La Digue Island, Seychelles: Snorkelling and Selfies With Sea Turtles

The clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean in the Seychelles only wants to seduce you into jumping right in. Take my advice – yield to such temptation.

One of the best ways to explore the seas are to take a boat out and go snorkelling – easy to do when at La Digue island. Hire one for half a day – or even a full day if you want to include a barbecue lunch on one of the islands.

Which islands can you explore? Coco Island, Felicite Island and Sister Island are the ones on the tourist trail. Once out there, go looking for fish, sea turtles & other sea animals. You will find beautiful corals too, even though some have been killed by El Nino a few years back.

And while you are at it, don’t forget to take selfies with a sea turtle. Are they scary? No, they are quite used to people. But they can be a bit humourless and bite you if you annoy them too much. Other than being sore for a while, the bite is not dangerous.
