“Reading is important because it brings the world together; just look around us (at the Jaipur Literature Festival). I started reading when I used to take the local train in Mumbai, and the train would transform into a spaceship one day, a forest another day. It’s also a very good escape from this world when it doesn’t make a lot of sense, when there is war around you. It teaches you a lot; you can travel places through a book.
