About Kunzum – And the Possibilities of Working Together!

Kunzum is embarking on a new journey, into a world of books. The popular Kunzum Travel Cafe will now be a place to buy books – just like you would at any other bookshop. But the collections will be carefully curated – even as we retain the coffee, the events and the sense of community. 

We have only been in Hauz Khas Village in New Delhi, but are now expanding – with three outlets to start with. The new ones will be located in DT Mega Mall in Gurgaon and in Jorbagh in central Delhi. We are on the lookout for more.

Remuneration will be based on your past experience and will be discussed on a case-to-case basis.


POSITION: HEAD OF OPERATIONS (FULL TIME, PAID IN DELHI / GURGAON)

Your job will be to manage operations at our stores. This includes:

* STRATEGY to drive growth.
* INVENTORY MANAGEMENT including ordering, re-ordering from publishers / distributors, displays, reports.
* ACCOUNTS including billing, payments, reports.
* IN-STORE PROMOTIONS including events, ads, CRM etc.
* SUPERVISING the team working in stores for operations, housekeeping and maintenance.
* MIS to chart progress and identify strengths and weaknesses for suitable action.

LOCATION: You will move between multiple locations in Delhi NCR depending where you are needed.

WORKING HOURS: 6 days a week. Off-day will usually be Monday. Expect to work on weekends, holidays and odd hours – this is when our audience is free to participate in what we do.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS: Experience in retail operations – preferably in the books industry but not necessarily. A strong sense of customer service, willingness to work hard and ability to set up and manage systems for the smooth functioning of stores.


POSITION: STORE MANAGER (FULL TIME, PAID IN DELHI / GURGAON)

Your job will be to manage operations at our stores. This includes:

* INVENTORY MANAGEMENT including ordering, re-ordering from publishers / distributors, displays, reports.
* ACCOUNTS including billing, payments, reports.
* IN-STORE PROMOTIONS including events, ads, CRM etc.
* SUPERVISING the team working in stores for operations, housekeeping and maintenance.

You will treat your location as an independent P&L centre and take suitable action to achieve key targets.

LOCATION: You could be posted in any outlets in Delhi NCR depending where you are needed.

WORKING HOURS: 6 days a week. Off-day will usually be Monday. Expect to work on weekends, holidays and odd hours – this is when our audience is free to participate in what we do.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS: Experience in retail operations – preferably in the books industry but not necessarily. A strong sense of customer service, willingness to work hard and ability to set up and manage systems for the smooth functioning of stores.


POSITION: MANAGER – BRANDING, MARKETING & EVENTS (FULL TIME, PAID IN DELHI / GURGAON)

Kunzum’s approach to marketing can be defined in one word: Engagement. We are looking for someone to drive marketing keeping this in mind – and this would entail the following kinds of activities: 

* Developing an overall BRAND LANGUAGE in everything we do.
* PAID AND ORGANIC PROMOTIONS / ADS online including social media.
* COMMUNICATION WITHIN STORES to include posters for events, reviews / reading lists, news and updates in pin-boards etc.
* IN-STORE EVENTS to include those around books (readings, launches, storytelling) but others too (music, stand-up comics, films, poetry slams etc.)
* CONTENT around everything we do to include social media, blogs, mailers etc. in the form of text / photo / video. 
* OUTREACH in the form of mailers, WhatsApp / Telegram broadcasts, in-store advertising, paid online ads) etc.
* READING EVANGELISTS: Build a network of volunteers who can promote reading in their spare time. They can do so by interacting with visitors to recommend books to them, posting reviews and recommendations (both in-store and digitally), hosting events etc.
* PROFESSIONAL OPINIONS: Invite authors, editors, designers and those whose opinions carry weight to recommend reading lists, share reviews etc.
* PR: Maintain lists of media and send them suitable updates from time to time. 

You will identify suitable agencies / individuals to enable the above. These can be consultants, freelancers, part/full time employees, interns and volunteers. You will draw up budgets and justify the same keeping in mind current sales and growth targets.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS: You should have experience in driving result-oriented marketing for brands. And you should be full of ideas – especially ones out-of-the-box to make an impression on all stakeholders.  


POSITION: READING EVANGELISTS (VOLUNTARY)

Books have to be an integral part of our lives – and we need to encourage people to read more. After all, many of us know the value we have derived from books – entertainment, knowledge, personal development and more. Our society would be a much richer place if others realise this too – and thus the role of READING EVANGELISTS.

It is a voluntary position with no monetary remuneration – and something you pursue in your spare time. Just some of the things you could be doing:

* BOOKS POP-UPs / FLEA MARKETS in schools, residential neighbourhoods, offices, clubs and other suitable locations. 
* BOOK READING / DISCUSSION SESSIONS wherever groups can assemble.
* INVITING AUTHORS, EDITORS & PUBLISHERS at events when possible.
* INTERACTING WITH VISITORS at the Kunzum stores (opening January 2022 onwards) to discuss books, recommending titles etc. Also engage with them for events, sharing and posting reviews and recommendations and other activities as decided from time to time.
* CREATING CONTENT in the form of reading lists, reviews and recommendations. You can offer your opinion but also gather from other sources like interviews (with other readers, authors and editors), reading communities (online including social media), other media (like newspapers & magazines) etc.

LOCATION: You can do the above from anywhere – but activities planned in the Kunzum stores may be limited to Delhi NCR only till we expand to other cities.


POSITION: COMMUNITY MANAGER (FULL TIME, PAID IN DELHI / GURGAON)

As the title suggests, your role would be to build a community of those who love books – these include readers, authors, influencers / media / reviewers, editors, and  publishers. Just some of the things you would be doing:

* IN-STORE EVENTS to include those around books (readings, launches, storytelling) but others too (music, stand-up comics, films, poetry slams etc.)
* CONTENT around everything we do to include social media, blogs, mailers etc. in the form of text / photo / video. 
* OUTREACH in the form of mailers, WhatsApp / Telegram broadcasts, in-store advertising, paid online ads) etc.

POSITION: CONTENT EDITOR / CREATOR (FULL TIME, PAID IN DELHI / GURGAON)

Content is King / Queen in marketing today – especially in the business Kunzum is in. You will be responsible for creating the following kind of content – and more as we get new ideas!

* Blog posts (and corresponding social media posts) covering our events, book reviews, interviews, news etc. 
* Engaging freelance writers / photographers / videographers to create content on paid / unpaid basis.
* Live coverage of events on social media / YouTube.
* Capturing photos / videos with accompanying reports to include events, what’s on offer at stores, guests / customers etc.
* Reaching out to professional reviewers, writers, book editors and even readers to share book recommendations, reviews, lists etc. 
* Creating promotional / advertising content for events, books etc. on offer at Kunzum.
* Sharing reviews and lists from other media include NYT, Guardian and other credible sources.
* Publishing newsletters and possibly even a print newspaper!

LOCATION: You will move between multiple locations in Delhi NCR depending where you are needed. 

WORKING HOURS: 6 days a week. Off-day will usually be Monday. Expect to work on weekends, holidays and odd hours – this is when our audience is free to attend events.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS: Irrespective of background, strong writing skills are vital. You should have the ability to present stories to hook audiences. Ideally, an ability to take decent photos / videos would be as asset.
