Another unique heritage walk by Kunzum – not to be missed.
The Walk: Kunzum ‘Delhi 101’ Heritage Walk: Shahjahanabad – (Daryaganj to Red Fort), Old Delhi
Date: Saturday December 8, 2012
Time: 8:30 am -11:00 am
REDISCOVER DARYAGANJ- THE OLD BOOK MARKET, GHATA MASJID, SUNHERI MASJID AND RED FORT OF SHAHJAHANBAD
Shahjahanbad for many today is Old Delhi, the city built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. It is one of the most thriving medieval commercial centres that manages to continue with its innate character of being a large market for different types of goods and commerce. The area that will be rediscovered during this walk will be Daryaganj, an area well known to house some of the best know publishing offices of the country. Apart for the publishing sector we will also pay a visit to some architectural marvels left behind for us from the Mughal times. Some sites that we will be visiting during the walk are Delhi Gate, Daryaganj, city fortification walls, Ghata Masjid, Sunheri Masjid and Red Fort.
P.S. We do not explore Red Fort from inside – that is an independent walk in itself for a later day.
Assembly Point: Outside the Daryaganj Police Station. Please make sure you get there in time as we will be starting the walk at sharp 8:30 am.
What to bring? Do carry along with you:
2. Sun glasses/caps
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes that cover your lower body completely as some areas inside the park are infested with ants.
