Bats at Agrasen ki Baoli in Delhi

A Baoli was an open tank where drinking water was stored, and was also a place where people congregated to socialise in earlier times. The Agrasen ki Baoli is located off the Hailey Road in Connaught Place in the centre of New Delhi, and is virtually unknown to even the locals.

It was apparently built by Maharaja Agrasen.

And it is home to Bats. What is even lesser known is that it is home to thousands of bats, who live in its cool, dark well area.

  1. All these years, we have heard that it was built by Ugrasen, who was lord krishna’s uncle. On the contrary, muslims believe that urg-hussain was the founder of this baoli in earlier times…
this baoli is commonly used as a swimming pool in summers by the locals.

  2. This place harbours a 140 yr old neem tree..shocking! but true…and now Archaelogical survey of India (aggarwal Samaj) is doing work to make this m,onument better..Along with Bats this place is a Haven for pegions also. This place last saw water some 15years ago..since then it has become dry.

  3. Therezz something eeery about this place………..I have been once there …….it’s lyk someone is chasing and keeping an eye on u………!!!!
